Ok, I see this is now a "topic" according to the description in the discussions page.

I'm typing this into the web interface on the uptake.  I've changed my email setting so I should start to get this discussion with emails.

Ok I'm answering this message from my email program and I'm leaving the entire thread below intact.  (for now I'm going simulate being as lazy as possible.)

Ok, I just received the last two messages out of the order in which they were entered into the system.  The message I typed in from the web was first, but I received it second.   The one I typed in on email I send second, but was received first.  This might be very confusing on a high volume list where people would have to know what was previously said to answer.  The time on both are withing the same minute.

Getting your own emails back is standard listserv behavior. You are
posting to a list.  You are on the list.  So you get what is posted to
the list.
It's the same in Google Groups, Yahoo Groups etc. The reason is:  People
like to know that what they have sent has been received.

Thanks for replying. Did you find the message on the web interface, or was it emailed to you?  I created this group last night to broaden my understanding of zanby discussions.

My experience has been that the "receiving-your-own-emails-feature" may default to being on, but can be turned off as an option. I can see where some people would want it on so they are confident that their reply was processed and sent. I always turn it off because as I mentioned I find it annoying and I don't need the extra volume of email.

For these things I'm sort of 'typing out loud' to learn the software so I'm happy to be wrong and learn how this stuff works.
